Signs It’s Time to Replace Your AC
Most homeowners hold on to their AC as long as possible, and that makes sense. But San Antonio’s extended cooling season, running roughly from spring through fall, puts more hours on equipment each year than most climates do. That accelerated wear means the replacement threshold often arrives sooner than expected.
Watch for these signs that your system may be ready for replacement:
- Frequent breakdowns – If you’re calling for repairs more than once a season, replacement may be more cost-effective than continued investment in a declining system.
- High energy bills – Older units lose efficiency over time, and the effect is amplified during long, hot San Antonio summers. Newer systems with higher SEER2 ratings may reduce what you’re spending to stay cool.
